things you remind me of
Steady wise Oak
with the most stubborn head of hair.
A book that tastes of a puff of smoke
blown under a banyan tree and a clear sky.
The smell of the once-warm earth
softly diffusing through the air
after the clouds cry their hearts out, and mostly,
of the feel of velvety footsteps on cool grass
and I breathe in deep,
and I pray my lungs are filled with you.
I wish for the cherry blossoms you are so fond of
to hover over your head
and as far as your eyes can see
until your heart weeps Sakura of its own.
Smooth honey, your voice
and I do not like the taste of honey
but I would devour entire honeycombs for you.
I can taste your voice when you speak to me
crisp apple and a lullaby
sometimes sung, sometimes written down
sometimes smudged.
I would promise to bind to every fallen eyelash
a prayer for you, blown into the sky.
Until no more eyelashes remain,
Or until every prayer has been prayed
Rosewood coloured marbles, your eyes
pools that are sometimes walnut, some afternoons
chestnut and some nights, maple.
Lakes I would swim in every morning.
Lakes I would learn to swim for.
i love this <3
